Quantum Dot
 
Definition: An object so small that adding or removing a single electron represents a significant change.
Quantum dots are examples of a zero-dimensional object, analagous to a single point within Euclidian space.

"Quantum Dot - Something (usually a semiconductor island) capable of confining a single electron, or a few, and in which the electrons occupy discrete energy states just as they would in an atom (quantum dots have been called artificial atoms)."
