While on a small scale, the theory is remarkably accurate in modeling the behaviour of matter - the computational cost required to model systems nanoscale and larger limits our ability to use quantum mechanics to explain any physical phenomena. While quantum mechanics incorporates the theory of special relativity, the inconsistencies between quantum mechanics and general relativity have yet to be reconciled.
