Fractal

A mathematical construct that has a fractional dimension. Such mathematical formulas can be used to model numerous naturally ocurring phenomena such as the shapes of leaves, the human circulatory system, and biological polymers such as glycogen and starch. Since fractals make optimal use of space, nanotechnology can benefit from fractal mathematics.
